Zach, the first student to join the Latham Lab, today became the first to graduate with a Ph.D.! He gave a fantastic defense talk via Zoom taking us through his journey of uncovering an allosteric network within Rad50 and characterizing the function of the conserved D-loop in Rad50 catalysis. Not only did Zach learn biochemistry, NMR, and LRET, he also entered the worlds of X-ray crystallography and small molecule inhibitors. We are super proud of him and he has certainly set a high bar for future Latham Lab PhD students! Congratulations!
