Two PhDs and a Masters degree in one week!

This last week was a complete whirlwind as three Latham Lab graduate students defended their degrees. Dr. Masoumzadeh successfully defended her PhD on March 26 while Dr. Rahman's turn came on March 30th. Then on April 1st, Tanner defended his Masters degree. They all did a fabulous job and we are so proud of them! We celebrated with socially-distanced requisite champagne of course, as well as cupcakes, donuts, and pizza this week and very soon everyone will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (yay RNA!) and we can have an actual face-to-face PARTY! So what is next for these superstars? Tanner will start a sales position with Thermo Scientific in the very near future, working out of his home here in Lubbock. Samiur will be moving to Bethesda, Maryland in the middle of April to begin his post-doc in the lab of Dr. Patricia Steeg who studies breast cancer metastasis at the NIH National Cancer Institute. And Lili has accepted a post-doc position with Dr. Ad Bax at the NIH NIDDK to continue her training in all things NMR, which she will be starting later this summer. The Latham lab will miss you all, and we know you will do amazing things!
